Juventus' midfield dynamo Pavel Nedved announced his decision to quit football last month, but the campaign to persuade the 36-year-old to keep playing is gaining momentum.
Coach Claudio Ranieri also pleaded with the ex-Lazio man to further extend his career last night, after Nedved came off the bench to score a wonderful goal in Juve’s 4-1 drubbing of Roma.
And his agent Mino Raiola has further fuelled speculation that his client will be persuaded into signing a new contract.with the bianconeri.
“Will he quit? I think he will play on, and could do so for five more years,” the representative is quoted as saying by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I will do everything in my power to make sure he [Nedved] wears the Juve shirt again next season,” commented Mino Raiola.
“There is still hope until September. He simply would like to retire to make room for young players.”
Nedved has said that it was his wife that implored him to call it a day.
